when the blessing becomes a curse

What is wrong with these pictures?

It's noon. I'm in my pajamas.

We have guests coming for dinner tonight.

I bought a drop cloth yesterday at Walmart and it's burning a hole in my pocket.
And I decide that I need to make slipcovers for the dining room chairs. Go figure.

Yes, this is when the blessing of creativity and being able to make stuff becomes a curse. You know what I mean...when your hands can't keep up with your brain's ideas and inspiration. When you have that special relationship with your sewing machine and serger, your yarn and needles, your brush and paint.

And you cannot turn it off!!!!!
I'm just glad that our guests are bringing dessert tonight!

  2. Yep, I totally get that. I am always thinking what else could I do. It takes effort to calm down the creativity. Great job on the slip covers.

  4. I have that problem too. The house is all decorated for Christmas and I have to drag out my craft bucket to make an ornament I just saw on pinterest or sew a pillow cover from a new Christmas sweater I found at Sally. You would think I learn from holiday to holiday, year to year. But it is that crafty bug that makes you want to do more. The slipcovers look great, hope you had a wonderful evening with friends.

  6. Well, they clearly worked out for the best! I know the feeling--I made 2 kids' aprons yesterday morning 3 hours before my annual Christmas cookie party just because I had fabric available. Sometimes it's just good to get that stuff out of your system--like letting the creativity move through you like a breath of fresh air.

  8. Oh yeah, I'm afflicted by that bug too! And I never seem to learn from one year to the next!

  9. You work fast! I am thinking of getting a drop cloth to make a tablecloth, but I can't imagine trying to make all those slipcovers in a day. They look great though!

  10. This would be me, making slipcovers at the last moment AND making dessert
I just found 5 metres of blue fabric at a thrift store the other day (for that apron!) and it's washed and calling me...
The dining room looks gorgeous and festive and congrats on your win!
